Feeling like God has Forgotten You? Pastor Peter Nugent

In a moment of despair, David wrote the following:

Psalms 13:1, "How long wilt thou forget me, O LORD? for ever? How long wilt thou hide thy face from me?"

I have found that feelings of loneliness can overwhelm us. We begin to sense that we are not important to anyone, and that nobody cares about us. We start to think that everyone else has someone they can turn to, and that we are isolated in life.

Those feelings are amplified then we think that somehow God has forgotten about us, or even worse, turned His back on us.

There is a wonderful promise in the book of Isaiah:

"But Zion said, The LORD hath forsaken me, and my Lord hath forgotten me. Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee. Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me," Isaiah 49:14-16.

God never forgets us, because the nail piercings in the palms of His hands are forever a sign of His love for us.

Don't let your feelings override fact. The fact is, God can not, and will not forget you. If we are feeling that God has forgotten us, those feelings are not coming from Him
