SALVATION

Sin has separated mankind from God (Romans 3:23) and our sinfulness has an eternal consequence – death (Romans 6:23) and Hell (2 Thessalonians 1:8-9). That’s the bad news.

The good news is God has made a way for us to be reconciled to God and have our sins forgiven.  We can spend eternity with God in heaven if we’ll receive Jesus as our Savior.

How does a person receive Jesus as Savior?  It’s as simple as ABC…

A – Admit

Salvation begins with us admitting we are a sinner and in need of a Savior (Ecclesiastes 7:20I John 1:8).  A person cannot be saved if they don’t first admit they are a sinner.

B – Believe

In order to be saved a person must believe the gospel (good news) of Jesus – he was dead, buried, and rose again the third day (I Corinthians 15:1-4). This is more than intellectual assent to the facts of the gospel story but rather a heartfelt belief that Jesus died for your sins and rose again to give you eternal life (John 3:16Romans 10:9)

C – Confess

Our inward belief in Jesus is manifested in a confession of Him as Savior.  Call upon the name of the Lord, tell Him you are a sinner and ask Him to save you and forgive you (Romans, 10:13I John 1:9) based upon the finished work of Jesus (Romans 10:9-10I Jn 4:15).
